Samoan Language week

As soon as I arrived at school I went straight to the library to get changed into our Samoan costume. I was struggling to put on my I’e lavalava for our performance to launch Samoan Language Week. Miss Va'afusuaga came and helped. I was nervous because a distinguished guest was going to be there his name was called Sam lotu iiga. Soon as we got changed we had to go to the hall and sit at the back were Mrs Tele’a told us to sit. The whole school sang the samoan national anthem I was about to cry.

Then it was time for the teuila kindy to perform. As they were singing their last song it was time for the Senior Samoan group to go and get get ready. in the music room. Introducing us was Eden tuala saying her speech in the language of the beautiful Samoa. Then they started to do  their dance first singing along was the boys. After the girls it came to the strong Toa Samoan boys. I was leading our mighty haka saying these words. Samoa o ai le Toa 2x. And then Samoa la gagou o’e e gau le gau’a. The last word was to’e sau. I was so scared at first but then my nervousness went away.

after us was Tamaki college performing a song and a dance. after that Christians grandpa said a prayer for the end the assembly. After the assembly the Samoan groups had a big feed and a drink. When we got to class we did some work on the writing about the assembly yesterday. When I got to say malo to Sam he said malo back and he asked where my parents are from in Samoa I said my dad Is from Savai'i and my mum is from apia.
